Electric pressure cooker will go out of national standard
On August 10, 2010, it was learned from the electric pressure cooker company of Midea Life Appliances Division that Midea would take the lead in formulating the national standard for electric pressure cookers. Industry insiders believe that the drafting of national standards will speed up the standardized operation of the industry, and low-quality products and enterprises without core competitiveness will be eliminated.
Since 2007, the sales of electric pressure cookers have experienced a "blowout". According to the data from the retail monitoring of Zhongyikang, the total market volume of electric pressure cookers in 2007 was 4.69 million units, and by 2009 it had reached 11.7 million units. In the three years, the retail volume grew at a rate of more than 50% year on year, reaching 79.9%, 61.2% and 54.2% respectively. In terms of retail sales, it was 2 billion yuan in 2007, with a year-on-year growth of 83.8%. Although the growth rate in 2008 and 2009 dropped slightly, it also reached 60.8% and 39.9% respectively, becoming a small household appliance with a growth rate only second to that of soymilk machine.
In the face of the huge market temptation, many manufacturers have set foot in this product. According to the data of Zhongyikang, 154 manufacturers participated in the electric pressure cooker market in 2008, which increased to 161 in 2009. However, with the increasing competition, the long-term lack of specifications in the electric pressure cooker industry has cast a shadow on the development of the entire industry.
"Some small enterprises that operate irregularly and are unable to provide high-quality products and after-sales services will be eliminated." An industry expert who did not want to be named told the reporter that after the introduction of the national standard for electric pressure cookers, it will promote the healthy development of the entire industry, and at the same time, it will improve the access threshold of the industry. Some brands with poor product quality and low popularity will be blocked out.
In fact, "chill" has been quietly approaching the electric pressure cooker industry. According to the retail monitoring data of Zhongyikang, from January to May this year, the number of participating brands in the electric pressure cooker market has dropped to 148, and the number of models on sale has also dropped to 1926. The top 10 brands account for nearly 90% of the market share, while the remaining 140 brands are struggling for 10% of the market space. The introduction of the national standard of electric pressure cooker will undoubtedly make small brands face a worse situation. At the same time, some home appliance enterprises with relatively strong strength are trying to improve brand concentration and eliminate small and medium-sized enterprises that are unable to compete by taking the right to formulate product standards as a weapon.
